史跡 旧見付小学校 The Mitsuke School Historical Site
見付小学校を第12中学区内第一番小学校にと地元の熱意で、明治7年堂宮棟梁伊藤平右衛門の設計で着手、翌8年に開校しました。
基礎の石垣は遠州横須賀城の石垣を利用し、間口12間・奥行き5間の木造洋風2階建てに屋上2層の楼を完成させました。玄関はエンタシス様式の飾柱、分銅付き窓の日本最古の現存木造洋風校舎です。
明治16年に2階天井裏を改築し、現在の3階2層になりました。
Mitsuke School was the first elementary school built within the twelve school districts which existed at the time. Heizaemon Ito, a carpenter of temples and shrines, designed the school in response to the requests of the citizens. Construction begin in 1874, and the school was opend during the following year.
The basic stones that are used in the building were taken from the near by Enshu Yokosuka Castle. The stones from a foundation with a length of approximately 21.6 meters, and a width of approximately 9 meters. On this foundation a two story western style wooden building and two story tower were completed. The entrance features entasis style poles. The building's windows bear a western influence in that they are weighted and can be lifted open to any desired position.
In 1883 the second floor ceiling was rebuild, Therefore, the present building appears to have three stories, while in actuality there are only two.
